パリの作曲家シャルパンティエは1660年代にローマへ渡り、イタリアの音楽を吸収してフランスへ持ち帰りました。セバスティアン・ドゥセ＆アンサンブル・コレスポンダンスはシャルパンティエの旅路を当時の音楽で構成して再現。最後にシャルパンティエのイタリアの色彩が色濃く生かされた作品“4つの合唱のためのミサ”を収録することで、シャルパンティエのイタリア体験とその音楽的成果をともに味わうアルバムに仕上がりました
