表題曲「M八七」（読み：エム　ハチジュウナナ）は、大ヒット上映中の映画「シン・ウルトラマン」主題歌（企画・脚本：庵野秀明 / 監督：樋口真嗣）。5月にリリースしたシングルはBillboard JAPAN総合ランキング・Hot 100で1位を獲得、Billboard HOT BUZZ SONGでも4週連続1位を記録するなか、今回のアナログ化が決定。米津玄師としては初のアナログ盤の発売となる。
