前進座が恒例にしている国立劇場での歌舞伎公演が間もなく開幕する。鶴屋南北作の古典歌舞伎『杜若艶色紫』（かきつばたいろもえどぞめ）は、「悪婆もの」と呼ばれるジャンルの歌舞伎で、主人公のお六は、今風で言うところの「ダークヒロイン」。破戒坊主の相棒とグルになって悪事に手を染めていたが、その悪事をきっかけに実の妹・八ツ橋が殺されてしまい、そこから改心してゆくという物語だ。主人公の悪婆・お六と、花魁・八ツ橋の二役を演じるのは六代目河原崎國太郎。祖父の五世国 全文
