グラスの音楽は以前『2台のピアノのための二重協奏曲』を献呈されて以来、ラベック姉妹にとって特別なものとなっています。グラスはジャン・コクトーの小説に書いた歌劇『恐るべき子供たち』を二人のために改作しようと思いつき、グラスの曲の編曲を長年手がけているマイケル・リースマンにピアノ・デュオへの編曲を依頼しました
